Common Name: Barrenwort, Bishop’s Hat, Lilac Fairy, ‘Lilafee’
Violet-purple flowers sit above foliage on tall stems, which is different than most varieties that have flowers hidden within the foliage. In spring and fall the leaves are bronze-red in colour then turn to green in the summer months.

Flower Description: Racemes of long-spurred, lavender-violet flowers in spring form well above the foliage. Compound, medium green leaves with spiny-toothed, oval leaflets (to 3″ long) on wiry stems form attractive foliage mounds. New leaves in spring emerge beige with a red tinge, mature to green and turn red in fall.
Light Requirement: Partial Shade to Full Shade.
Soil Type: Easily grown in average, acidic, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Intolerant of alkaline soils.
