Bergenia ‘Spring Fling’
Common Name: Pigsqueak, Elephant’s Ears
The shiny, evergreen, cabbage-like leaves of Bergenia have a unique leathery appearance that is really eye-catching. This plant gets its common name, "Pig Squeak", from the sound the leaf makes when rubbed between two fingers.
With Spring Fling, you will bear witness to some of the most exciting work done with the easiest to grow perennial ever! This Bergenia is a large, fairly tight and upright plant that blooms so heavily, it could be mistaken as an Azalea from a distance. It has branched flowering stems, which equals more flowers. After the spring bloom and summer beauty, Spring Fling's foliage turns satiny purple-black in the fall and winter, which provides a striking view with the persisting magenta-pink flowers.
