Eucalyptus neglecta (hardy to -14C)
Common name: Big ‘O’, Omeo Gum, Omeo Eucalyptus
This Southern Euc is a small, fast growing tree that will beg to be planted as a focal point in your garden. It is a clean, straight trunk with rough, fibrous grey bark, turning more smooth grey-green above. A lightly fragrant, colourful foliage of vivid blue with red highlights will be accented by large clusters of white flowers in late winter.
Big ‘0’ is one of the few Eucalyptus trees that will do well in light shade. It responds well to pruning, making it versatile as a shrub; with its small size and fragrance, try it out as focal piece for the deck, porch, or patio!
