Description
Common name: Coral Bells
This selection from the NORTHERN EXPOSURE™ collection forms a dense, medium-sized mound with clear amber, round leaves. Green-yellow flower sprays in spring. Bred from hardy H. richardsonii, will remain attractive longer into the season. Protect from hot afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. Remove any winter-burned leaves in the spring, otherwise no pruning is require.
Coral bells are easy to grow and blend easily with most other perennials in the landscape. Because of their low, mounding habit, they are often used as edging along paths or in containers. Try cutting a few of the tall flower scapes for fresh bouquets.
