Description

Common Name: Tall Bearded Iris ‘Mariposa autumn’

Sparkling white falls broadly outlined in deep purple (a pattern known as “plicata”) create a striking contrast with the rich, violet-red standards. A vigorous rebloomer, this garden standout has won multiple awards from the American Iris Society, including the prestigious Award of Merit.

Reblooming varieties have been bred to produce bloom stalks more than once a year, first in spring and then again in late summer or fall. Although they have a tendency to rebloom, they are not guaranteed to bloom a second time. Repeat bloom is dependent on many things, including geographic location and growing conditions. But it’s definitely worth trying these varieties for a chance at a second round of stunning blooms.

Iris germanica: Wonderful spring blooming perennials in a wide assortment of colours. The flowers have six petals; three upright petals (called standards) and three hanging petals (called falls). Plant rhizomes near the soil surface. Drought tolerant.
