Description
Common Name: Bearberry ‘Vancouver Jade’, Kinnikinnick
Also known as Bearberry or Kinnikinnick, Arctostaphylos is a native North American wildflower.
Plants form a dense mat of glossy evergreen leaves, the stems rooting along the ground. Light pink bell-shaped flowers appear in spring, followed by a showy display of scarlet berries. Foliage turns a beautiful bronzy-red in winter, particularly in colder regions.

Flower Description: Low-growing mat-forming evergreen shrub. Shiny leathery dark green leaves may become reddish-brown during the winter. White flowers tinged with pink appear in spring. Red berries are eaten by birds but not recommended for human consumption.
Light Requirement: Full Sun to Partial Shade.
Soil Type: Best in a well-drained sandy to loam soil, this dislikes poorly-drained clay. Tolerates poor soil.
