Description

Common Name: Masterwort ‘Hadspen Blood’, Great Masterwort ‘Hadspen Blood’

‘Hadspen Blood’ is a very floriferous and vigorous variety featuring large clusters of bearing carmine-red pincushion flowers on maroon stems. After flowering, plants can be rejuvenated by cutting them back close to the ground – fresh new foliage and a late crop of flowers start appearing shortly after. Astrantia ‘Hadspen Blood’ is prized for fresh or dried floral arrangements. Picking flowers results in even more blooms that will last all summer long. For added interest, bracts remain attractive even after the flowers fade.

Astrantia is a wonderful woodland plant prefering moist, shady areas rich in organic matter. Excellent for the shady perennial border or for naturalizing along a stream. Plants bloom early to late summer on tall stems and they are excellent cut flowers.
