Description
Common Name: Pinks
This selection has fully double petals in soft pink with dark pink striping. Great for borders or in containers. Deadhead regularly to encourage more buds to form. Clip back by half in early autumn. Attractive to butterflies. Plants require good drainage and are an excellent choice for hot dry sites or gravelly soils. Combines beautifully with other low alpine plants. Evergreen.
Deer resistant, low maintenance and drought tolerant, attracts butterflies, fragrant, cute cut flower-what more could one want in a perennial? The Dianthus delivers all that and more. Double flowers stand like mini carnations atop a short mound of evergreen foliage in early summer. A quick shearing after flowering will encourage them to rebloom in early fall. Dianthus is just the right size to edge the front of the sunny border and use in combination containers.
