Description

Common name: red barrenwort or bishop’s hat

A slow spreading variety with exceptional yellow blooms. From mid to late spring, clusters of 1″ wide, star-shaped, bright yellow flowers appear on straight stems just above the foliage. Newly emerging leaves are bronze-pink, turn dark green in summer, and then turn back to bronze in fall. 

 Epimedium is a rhizomatous, clump-forming perennial which typically grows 8-12″ tall and is primarily used as a ground cover or edger in shady or woodland areas. They form attractive foliage mounds. New leaves in spring emerge with a red tinge, mature to green turning reddish in fall.
