Description
Common Name: Persian Lily, Persian Bells ‘Persica’
With graceful blooms that release a slight, sweet scent, ‘Persica’ pairs beautifully with light-coloured tulips in borders and cut-flower arrangements. Each of its tall, strong stems produce racemes filled with 15–20 bell-shaped, down-facing flowers whose plum-purple colouring sometimes makes them appear chocolate brown. The green-grey foliage provides a very nice contrast. They will bloom in Late Spring.
Fritillarias look best when planted in groups. They are at home in full sun where the soil is rich and well-drained soil.
Bulbs require well drained soil. Will not perform well if soil holds to much water. Add sand or grit to the bottom of the hole to improve drainage.
