Description
Common Name: ‘Scarlet Heaven’ Itoh Peony, intersectional hybrid peony
‘Scarlet Heaven’ Itoh Peony has striking, deep scarlet-red petals that surround golden yellow centers on enormous single flowers. The 7 to 9 inch blooms arrive in late spring and are lightly fragrant. Cold hardy and resistant to disease, ‘Scarlet Heaven’ does not require staking and is resistant to both deer and rabbits.
Itoh Peonies are prized for their large and spectacular flowers, later blooming season and finely cut and beautifully mounded foliage. The aftermath of the bloom will leave you with an eye-catching mound of deep green foliage that will happily anchor the next sequence of bloom in the neighbourhood.
Peonies make superior cut flowers, lasting more than a week if cut in full bud.
