Description

Common name: Persian Onion, Allium Giant, Ornamental Onion ‘Giganteum’, Allium giganteum

Giant Allium (Allium giganteum) is a garden showstopper, producing large flower heads (6.0-8.0″ diameter) with a multitude of star-shaped lilac-coloured blooms borne on sturdy stocks. The flowers are long blooming and are excellent to use as cut or dried flowers. Place at the back of a border and plant with perennials, leaving plenty of room for these large bulbs to grow. Deer resistant and blooms in late spring to early summer.

Bulbs require well drained soil. Will not perform well if soil holds too much water. Add sand or grit to the bottom of the hole to improve drainage.
