Description

Common Name: Hosta, whirlwind hosta, plantain lily

‘Whirlwind’ Hosta has wide dark green margins with a creamy white center. The center color looks like a little flame in the middle of the leaf. The center of the leaf emerges white but slowly turns lime-green to all green by mid summer with scapes of lavender flowers, creating a continuous colour transition through the season.

Vigorous grower with thick leaves, ‘Whirlwind’ is also resistant to slugs.

Hostas are exceedingly popular perennials in today’s gardens due to their versatility in the landscape. Their subtle colors, tall flower scapes, and broad, coarse leaves fill a niche in garden designs that few other plants can achieve.
