Common Name: ‘Melissa’ Herbaceous Hybrid Peony
Parentage: A seedling of unnamed herbaceous hybrid seedlings. First year bloomed 2002, first year propagated 2004, Good potential for cut-flower production, (Roger Anderson, USA, 2010).
Peony ‘Melissa’ is an early season, double yellow Peony Herbaceous Hybrid. The rounded flower is fully double and 3.0-5.0” in size. When the bud flower first opens it is light yellow, then fades to cream. An average of 3 carpels are present on each bloom, which are smooth and green, stigmas pink.
This plant is very floriferous with a spreading growth habit. Some blooms may go to the ground in rain. Foliage is broad and dark green.
